Psalm 46:10 (CJB)
“To the ends of the earth he makes wars cease —
he breaks the bow, snaps the spear,
burns the shields in the fire.”
The Christian God, our God, is a God of peace1 but he is also a God of justice, so I believe God is enacting justice in taking out the dictators of Iran. God’s people have been quietly suffering for a long time in Iran, and now, with the regime literally dying, there is an opportunity for a change to something better. I’m not an expert on the Middle East, and I don’t have an eloquent or detailed description of events on the ground there; however, an explanation that caught my attention was that there is currently a 3 prong attack on Iran’s Islamic regime: The USA taking on the major powers within Iran, their military tech. and machinery; anything that will give them great ability in the future. Israel is handling the on-the-ground battle, challenging the actual soldiers as well as providing the intelligence for the joint (US-Israeli) attacks on key areas and personnel in Iran. Then the church is in charge the spiritual battle, coming against demonic forces that seek to keep the people in Iran in bondage, and to drag others into this war. 2
Coming back to my first statement, just because this war is happening does not mean God is not a God of peace; he still is, but we as the church have an important role. As the lord’s specially appointed royal priests, we need to intercede in prayer for a new leadership that will bring peace and stability and for innocent people on the ground, and we have to cut off the enemy from Iran and stop evil forces from inspiring men to escalate this war. We have to do our part for God’s justice to be executed swiftly without further conflict, prolonged damage or escalation. God’s will must be done in Iran, and in Ukraine, and in Nigeria, and all over the world.
Amen.
Romans 16:20 NIV
