Vice President JD Vance addressed Europe at the Munich Security Conference in Germany on February 14, 2025.

Vance emphasized that while there are external threats, those will be dealt with but attention to the internal affairs of Europe and the United States alike is needed. Vance implied that the leaders of European Nations should not be hypocrites in worrying about external tyranny when internally there has been growing tyranny among many of them against their own people. There has been an attack on Freedom of Speech across Europe and a tendency to ignore the people’s concerns, hopes and aspirations, this must change.

Vance sited a few examples of the concerning news in Europe like: Romania cancelling elections, Britain arresting people even for silently praying, Germany acting against those who are a part populist movements in their country and other incidents.
