30 Day Pause on Trump Tariffs

President Donald Trump Agreed to a deal with Mexico and Canada to put a stop to tariffs that were scheduled to start today, while the nations further negotiate.

Concerning the deal with Canada, Trump wants to see more initiative in securing the border and thus preventing illegal aliens and drugs from crossing over into the US. Ottawa has responded to Trump’s demands by committing more money towards border security, by designating drug cartels as terrorist organizations and with a plan to appoint a Fentanyl Czar.

Different Premiers of the Provinces of Canada have reacted positively to the delay stating that it is best for both nations, however, there is still much work to be done in order to avoid an economic crisis. The Premier of Manitoba, Wab Kinew, stated that Canada’s government will continue to work to make their economy ‘Trump-proof’.

Mexico’s President, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, also made promises to secure the border in order to get this concession. She has announced she will send 10,000 soldiers to patrol the US-Mexico boarder.
